Who We Are
The Platte Christian Reformed Church exists for three ends: to know Christ, to be like Christ, and to share Christ.
To know Christ- as our Savior and Lord. Romans 10 says that, “faith comes through hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” It is this word that is proclaimed in our church each week through preaching and the study of God’s Word. The point is that each member of our church would have a living, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, who is “the way, the truth and the life.”
To be like Christ- by our words and actions. Christians are a changed people, called to “bear fruit” out of a heart changed by the Holy Spirit. We are convinced that the Christian life of growing to look more like Jesus cannot happen alone. It happens in the church, through Christian fellowship and discipleship. The point is that each member of our church would grow in loving God and loving other people.
To share Christ- at home and throughout the world. We believe that the only way to salvation and eternal life is through Jesus Christ, and he has given the church the task of going out and making disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18-20). We seek to be “salt and light” (Matt 5:13-16) here in Platte, bringing the joy of Jesus Christ to our neighbors. We seek to send out this message of salvation across borders and oceans, raising up and supporting missionaries, bringing the joy of Jesus Christ to the world.
Our mission and identity – our very existence! – is centered upon Jesus Christ. “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.” (Colossians 1:17-18).
